Verity Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Verity, including all websites, applications, services, content, software, and educational tools operated by Samavia Ahmad, doing business as Verity ("Verity," "we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, accessing the Service, or allowing a child to use the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.
1. About Verity
Verity is an AI-powered literacy platform designed to help students in grades 3-8 strengthen reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and written communication skills through personalized educational exercises.
Verity is intended for educational enrichment purposes only.
Verity is not:
- A school
- A tutoring service
- A licensed educational institution
- A psychological assessment tool
- A medical service
- A therapy service
- A substitute for professional educational support
2. Eligibility
Parents or legal guardians must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
Child accounts may only be created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
By creating an account, you represent that:
- You are legally capable of entering into contracts.
- You are the parent or legal guardian of any child profile you create.
- Information provided is accurate and current.
3. Parent Responsibility
Parents are responsible for:
- Maintaining account security
- Supervising child use of the Service
- Monitoring educational activity
- Ensuring compliance with these Terms
- Reviewing educational feedback before relying on it
Parents remain responsible for all activity occurring under their account.
4. Educational Purpose
Verity is designed to support literacy development.
Educational feedback, proficiency levels, calibration results, and progress reports are informational tools only.
They are not intended to:
- Diagnose learning disabilities
- Determine educational placement
- Replace teacher evaluation
- Replace psychological testing
- Replace professional educational advice
Parents should consult qualified professionals regarding educational concerns.
5. AI-Generated Content
Verity uses artificial intelligence technologies to generate educational feedback and personalize learning experiences.
AI-generated outputs may:
- Be incomplete
- Contain inaccuracies
- Produce inconsistent results
- Require human judgment
You acknowledge that AI-generated feedback is provided for educational support purposes only.
Verity makes no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated outputs.
6. Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
You agree to:
- Keep credentials secure
- Notify Verity of unauthorized access
- Use strong passwords
- Maintain accurate account information
Verity may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
7. Subscriptions and Billing
Certain features may require a paid subscription.
By purchasing a subscription, you authorize Verity and its payment processors to charge applicable fees.
Subscription pricing, billing cycles, and features may be updated from time to time.
Prices are displayed before purchase.
8. Automatic Renewal
Unless canceled, subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period.
By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until cancellation.
Parents may cancel at any time through their account settings.
Cancellation prevents future billing but does not automatically generate refunds for previously charged periods unless required by law.
9. Refund Policy
Except where required by law:
- Subscription fees are non-refundable.
- Partial subscription periods are not refunded.
- Unused time is not refunded.
Verity may issue refunds at its sole discretion.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights provided by applicable consumer protection laws.
10. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in Verity remain the exclusive property of Verity and its licensors.
This includes:
- Software
- Content
- Branding
- Logos
- Assessments
- Educational frameworks
- Exercise libraries
- AI prompt systems
- Platform design
These materials may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, sold, or modified without written permission.
11. User Content
Parents and children retain ownership of content they submit through the Service.
By submitting content, you grant Verity a limited license to:
- Store content
- Process content
- Analyze content
- Generate educational feedback
- Improve platform functionality
This license exists solely to provide and operate the Service.
12. Research and Product Improvement
Verity may use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information for:
- Educational research
- Product improvement
- Platform analytics
- Literacy benchmarking
- Publication of educational insights
Such information will not identify individual users.
13. Acceptable Use
Users may not:
- Violate applicable laws
- Interfere with platform operation
- Attempt unauthorized access
- Circumvent security measures
- Reverse engineer the Service
- Scrape content or datasets
- Share account credentials
- Use automated systems to abuse the platform
- Submit harmful, unlawful, or malicious content

14. Service Availability
Verity strives to provide reliable access but does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
The Service may be unavailable due to:
- Maintenance
- Updates
- Technical issues
- Security incidents
- Third-party provider outages
Verity is not liable for interruptions or downtime.
15. Modifications to the Service
Verity may:
- Add features
- Remove features
- Modify functionality
- Change subscription offerings
- Update educational content
at any time.
We are not obligated to continue offering any particular feature indefinitely.
16. Suspension and Termination
Verity may suspend or terminate accounts that:
- Violate these Terms
- Create security risks
- Engage in fraudulent activity
- Abuse the Service
- Violate applicable laws
Parents may terminate their accounts at any time.
Termination does not relieve obligations arising before termination.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE."
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERITY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING:
- MERCHANTABILITY
- FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- NON-INFRINGEMENT
- ACCURACY
- RELIABILITY
- AVAILABILITY
WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT:
- THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE,
- AI OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE,
- EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES WILL IMPROVE,
- OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION.
18. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERITY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- INDIRECT DAMAGES
- INCIDENTAL DAMAGES
- CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES
- SPECIAL DAMAGES
- LOST PROFITS
- LOST DATA
- LOSS OF BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
VERITY'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (a) THE AMOUNT PAID TO VERITY DURING THE PRECEDING TWELVE MONTHS; OR (b) ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $100).
19. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Verity from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of applicable laws
- Content submitted through your account
20. Privacy
Your use of the Service is governed by the Verity Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy (COPPA) Addendum.
Those documents are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
21. Changes to These Terms
Verity may update these Terms periodically.
Material changes will be communicated through reasonable notice methods.
Continued use of the Service following updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
22. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
23. Dispute Resolution
Before initiating formal legal proceedings, users agree to contact Verity and attempt to resolve disputes informally.
Most disputes can be resolved through good-faith communication.
